PURE OF HEART by Mary Church (9-16-07)

The greater, the lesser,
The smaller, the taller,
The one who limps, the one who sometimes falls,
The one who flew
Bombing missions over Hanoi ---
For all the vets
Of all the wars,
You are our heroes, so much more ---
Our holy men, our teachers,
Our rebuilders, healers, keepers.
Gentle warriors come home.

There were seven or eight men named “John” at the conference in Wheaton. They were of all ages and statures, varied abilities, and veterans of several wars. They were all special men, each with a story that was true and precious, a story about their time in war.
